The Maroon Bells of Aspen, Colorado are truly a masterpiece of nature, especially when seen reflected in Maroon Lake with the low hanging morning clouds in early autumn just after the first snowfall of the season. The morning clouds drape over the Maroon Bells peaks, obscuring them in a mystical mist, while the still waters of Maroon Lake reflect the majestic peaks like a mirror. The snow on top of the peaks is a stark contrast to the dark colored rocks of the Maroon Bells peaks, creating a stunning contrast. The fog is still thick, making it look like the peaks are floating in a dreamlike state. The crisp autumn air carries the scent of pine and wood smoke, adding to the serene atmosphere.
